'Wonder Woman' Actress Gal Gadot Responds To Claims She's 'Too Skinny'

Wonder Woman Comic Cover Art Wonder Woman Actress Gal Gadot Responds To Claims Shes Too Skinny

After years of it seeming that Wonder Woman would never be brought to the big screen (or small, for that matter), fan prayers were answered by Warner Bros. and Zack Snyder – but they didn’t have long to celebrate the news that Diana would join Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice before the Amazonian princess’ casting once again divided the conversation. Nearly every fan saw Fast & Furious actress Gal Gadot as a surprising choice for the part, but some saw it as a misguided decision altogether.

We were among those who argued that the Israeli actress could bring some unique strengths to the role, but for an outspoken chunk of the audience, it wasn’t ...

'Orphan Black' Season 3 Character Posters: I'm Not Just One, I'm a Few

orphan black season 3 trailer plot summary Orphan Black Season 3 Character Posters: Im Not Just One, Im a Few

Fans of BBC America’s Orphan Black will be seeing double the usual amount of clones when the series returns next month. For two seasons, Golden Globe-nominee Tatiana Maslany has starred as Project Leda clones Sarah, Alison, Cosima and Helena (just to name a few), but season 3 promises to bring the militarized male clones from Project Castor (played by Ari Millen) into the fold.

And yet despite a whole new set of clones, promotion for Orphan Black has mostly remained on Sarah and her band of sisters. The newest trailer for season 3 teased the growing threat of DYAD and Project Castor to the sisterhood, while recent ...

New 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Clip; Inhuman Luke Mitchell Revealed

In its first season, ABC's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. found its footing in the tie-in episode with Marvel Studios’ Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The series continued that momentum into season 2. Then, this season's winter finale for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. introduced Inhumans to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Skye (Chloe Bennett) underwent Terrigenesis.

Since returning from the midseason break, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has largely focused on the Inhumans, specifically attempting to understand Skye's new powers. Now, a new clip from the upcoming episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. shows that differing opinions of Skye's powers may cause some discord within the team.

Marvel released a clip (above) from "Love in the Time of Hydra" in which Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) disagree over whether Skye's "Avengers-level powers" should be compared to those of ...

Miles Teller Promises a 'Humanized' Ultimate Fantastic Four, Talks Sequel

fantastic four 2015 miles teller Miles Teller Promises a Humanized Ultimate Fantastic Four, Talks Sequel
Fox’s Fantastic Four reboot shed its intentional shroud of mystery with the debut of the film’s first trailer a few months ago, revealing a dark, moody tone far removed from the goofy, oft-derided mid-2000s franchise. Rather than follow the previous films’ adherence to the characters’ origin stories, the new film from Chronicle director Josh Trank will roughly follow the Ultimate Fantastic Four storyline, finding our heroes mutated after traveling to a different dimension.

The Fantastic Four reboot has courted controversy among fans since its inception, from reshoot rumors to the careful updating of the characters to the prospect of the new FF series intersecting with Fox’s rejuvenated X-Men continuity at some point, but over the past couple of weeks, star Miles Teller has been talking ...

Dwayne Johnson Shazam Black Adam Movie Dwayne Johnson on Black Adam Origins; Could Join Justice League

After months of debate and speculation, DC Entertainment revealed that Dwayne Johnson would not be playing John Stewart, Lobo, or superform Billy Batson (a.k.a. Captain Marvel) and would, instead, portray Shazam villain Black Adam in the titular character’s solo film – set for release in 2019. Since that time, Johnson has talked up Black Adam as a complicated baddie with grey morality – indicating that the studio could evolve the character over multiple appearances, gradually transitioning the villain to reluctant hero.

Still, very little is known about the Shazam film – which comic book storylines the movie will pull from or how Shazam will be connected to the larger DC cinematic universe, not to mention who will portray the ...

'Arrow' Promo & Images: ATOM vs. Arrow & The Suicide Squad Returns

Before the future of The DC Cinematic Universe slate was revealed, fans had already seen a version of the Suicide Squad in action in season 2 of The CW’s Arrow. The show had built up a rogues gallery for itself leading up to the team’s debut, and since then, fans of the show have been looking forward to when they might get to see the villainous team of anti-heroes ride again.

Next week will feature the team’s return in an episode titled “Suicidal Tendencies,” which, along with the re-introduction of the Suicide Squad, will also feature Diggle and Lyla’s wedding, a fight between the Arrow (Stephen Amell) and the ATOM (Brandon Routh), and more.

Ansel Elgort Talks 'Insurgent' Character Dynamics & Spider-Man

For those who only know Ansel Elgort from his acting, you may or may not be surprised to learn that he is very much into EDM. He DJ’s and makes his own music under the alter-ego Ansolo and as such, it’s a subject he’s very passionate about. We bring this up as a partial bonus factoid and partial disclaimer for the first half of the conversation we recently had with Elgort pegged to his latest film, Insurgent. Elgort had previously given us a few intro-to-EDM artists to listen to as a primer but we had to cop to not doing the proper homework. Long-winded explanation for how EDM came up in a convo about a YA-based action-fantasy film, over.

When we eventually got down to discussing the business at hand, the sequel to last year’s Divergent, Elgort addressed the ebbs and ...

'Batman v Superman': New Alfred Jeremy Irons Says Script Is 'Amazing'

Batman v Superman fan art by ErikVonLehmann Batman v Superman: New Alfred Jeremy Irons Says Script Is Amazing

After years of false starts (George Miller’s Justice League), Warner Bros. is finally taking advantage of their library of DC Comics characters and are in the early stages of putting together a shared cinematic universe for the Justice League. This plan will go into effect next year, when audiences will be treated to the superhero crossover Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and villain/anti-hero team-up Suicide Squad, with both projects looking to expand the world in which these films are set.

The foundation for all this was laid down a couple of years ago when Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel hit theaters and reintroduced Superman for a new generation. Though that reboot certainly ...

'Bloodline' Series Premiere Review – They Did a Bad Thing

Kyle Chandler in Bloodline Season 1 Episode 1 Bloodline Series Premiere Review – They Did a Bad Thing

[This is a review of Bloodline season 1, episode 1. There will be SPOILERS.]

-

Very early on, Bloodline evokes a strong comparison to its creators’ previous series Damages. After all, both series tell the story of morally compromised people, who have (or will have) made choices they cannot unmake, and those choices have (or will have) sent them on a downward spiral into a very dark place.

That’s not entirely why the new series from Glenn and Todd Kessler, and Daniel Zelman is so reminiscent of the trio’s aforementioned effort. In fact, between shifting from a high-profile New York law firm to the swampy-yet-idyllic, family-owned resort of Islamadora, Florida, ...

'Wayward Pines' Trailer: Follow the Rules & Don't Ask Questions

The upcoming third season of Twin Peaks is still some way off, so Fox is stepping up to help satiate fans of neo-noir detective stories set in small towns with Wayward Pines. The mystery thriller tells the tale of a Secret Service agent (Matt Dillon) who is involved in a car accident while attempting to locate two missing federal agents in small-town Idaho - and subsequently, finds himself trapped in a town where all is not quite as it seems.

The first trailer for Wayward Pines gave a bit too much away about the town, but luckily a new trailer for the Fox miniseries delivers all of the intrigue with fewer spoilers. The cast also includes Juliette Lewis, Toby Jones, Melissa Leo, Shannyn Sossaman, Carla Gugino, and Terrence Howard as the enigmatic Sheriff Pope. Not a bad line-up.

'The Blacklist': Circumstances (Don't) Change

James Spader in The Blacklist Season 2 Episode 16 The Blacklist: Circumstances (Dont) Change

[This is a review of The Blacklist season 2, episode 18. There will be SPOILERS.]

-

For what it’s worth, the Det. Wilcox/Eugene Ames storyline that has been unfolding over the past few weeks on The Blacklist managed to do something the show hadn’t really done before: it focused on the actual collateral damage associated with what the FBI taskforce and Raymond ‘Red’ Reddington were engaged in. The storyline was one of the first times the series seemed interested in looking outside the insular team working so closely with the so-called Concierge of Crime, to see what kind of impact their actions – or, more to the point, the secrecy of their work – had on the lives of ...

'Independence Day 2′ Adds Charlotte Gainsbourg To its Cast [Updated]

independence day 2 movie sequel casting 2016 Independence Day 2 Adds Charlotte Gainsbourg To its Cast [Updated]

[Update: Roland Emmerich has confirmed that Charlotte Gainsbourg is set.]

-

Roland Emmerich’s Independence Day 2 is scheduled to open in theaters twenty years after its predecessor became a box office/pop cultural hit. back in 1996. Just for that reason alone, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that the majority of the sequel’s cast (or close enough to the majority) will be newcomers to the world of Independence Day.

Case in point: so far, Jeff Goldblum is the only actor confirmed to be reprising his role from Emmerich’s previous alien invasion tentpole. Goldblum will share the screen in the new Independence Day installment alongside the youngsters Liam Hemsworth (the Hunger Games ...

10 Epic Trailers For Disappointing Movies

We all know that movie trailers have one purpose: to sell us on the idea of paying to see a movie! And since all's fair in war and advertising, movie trailers have leeway to put their best, most exciting, foot forward, no matter how much recutting or remixing they have to do in order to achieve that sell.

Often, the right selection  of footage and the right music to go with it can do all the work of convincing us that even the most unlikely movie may have something special to offer. In the case of the 10 films on today's list, the vision present in the short span of a trailer was much more interesting, entertaining, and in some cases moving than the actual full-length film.

Do YOU have fond memories of the 10 trailers in our list? Read on (or WATCH above) and find ...

'Insurgent' Interview: Octavia Spencer Talks 'Divergent' Fandom & Playing God

As one of the newest members of the Insurgent cast, one might assume that Octavia Spencer might have the most catching up to do in preparation for her role in the dystopian sequel, but it was quite the opposite. The Oscar-winner  is a self-described fangirl of the books and was delighted to be welcomed into the franchise as benevolent leader of the Amity faction, Johanna.

When Screen Rant sat down with Spencer had nothing but praise for her Insurgent experience, particularly the film’s visual effects and how it succeeds in transporting the audience into Tris’ (Shailene Woodley) mind via dreamscape scenarios. Read on to find out why Spencer was happy to not be involved in any action sequences and how she’s planning on portraying God in her recently-announced next film, The Shack.

'James Bond: In Service of Nothing' Bootleg Short Film Unveiled by Producer Adi Shankar [Re-Updated]

[Re-Updated: The James Bond short film is back online!]

-

Dredd producer Adi Shankar made headlines last week when, seemingly out of the blue, he premiered a new installment in his series of bootleg one-shot short films: Power/Rangers, a grisly re-imagining of the Power Rangers property. The short is now back online, after having previously been pulled (briefly) due to copyright concerns/issues, and you can listen to our editors discuss the short in depth on this week’s episode of the Screen Rant Underground Podcast.

He’s back this week with James Bond: In Service of Nothing, a short animated feature that was directed by Tyler Gibb (Refrain) and, of course, produced by Shankar. The short, which is presented as a pre-visualization animated version of a live-action feature, picks up with the Sean Connery-era Agent 007 (voiced by Christopher Gee) in the ...

'Romeo and Juliet' Re-Imagining 'Verona' Being Developed by 'Maleficent' Producer

romeo juliet verona remake Romeo and Juliet Re Imagining Verona Being Developed by Maleficent Producer

The works of William Shakespeare have become so pervasive in the entertainment world that most moviegoers would be surprised to know just how many Hollywood releases are based (albeit, some loosely) on his plays. In their many forms, the stories, themes and character dynamics of Shakespeare’s works tend to resonate with audiences in a way that makes them instantly primed for adaptation.

However, perhaps the most well-known and frequently adapted Shakespearean work is Romeo and Juliet. The tragic tale of star-crossed lovers from opposing family lines has been done time and time again, reimagined as everything from a gangland musical (West Side Story) to an animated film starring gnomes (Gnomeo and Juliet) – not to mention, ...

'Interstellar' Waves Sequence Featurette; Jonathan Nolan on the Original Ending

[Warning: SPOILERS for Interstellar in the above video and article ahead.]

-

Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi epic Interstellar was easily one of the most divisive films released last year, but it’s hard to deny the fact that it contains some stunning visual effects work. If anyone does try to deny it, the VFX team can just hit them over the head with their Oscar trophy. The film follows a group of intrepid astronauts seeking a new home for the people of Earth through a wormhole that takes them to another solar system, filled with planets of varying climates and landscapes.

A new featurette about the making of Interstellar demonstrates the combination of on location filming and digital trickery that went into creating a planet covered in water, with devastating waves that would make it ...

'Game of Thrones' Sand Snakes Featurette; Season 5 Premiere Draws Praise

HBO’s fantasy series Game of Thrones will pick back up next month, in case you’ve been living under a rock and hadn’t already heard the news. The TV show has been been making daily headlines (or close enough to that) this month, but there are still a few more weeks to go until season five actually gets underway. In the meantime, though, HBO continues to drop new images and clips from the season, teasing the return to the world created by George R.R. Martin (and adapted for the small screen by show-runners David Benioff and Dan Weiss).

The new season premiere, in typical Game of Thrones fashion, will introduce several new characters – which is good, since a number of key players were killed over the course of season four. Easily the most buzzed-about of these newcomers are the Sand Snakes, who have ...

'Furious 7′ Clips: Vehicle Hopping & The Rock vs. The Transporter

Superhero movies nowadays tend to make headlines on a semi-regular basis leading right up to their release in theaters; it’s fitting, then, that the latest installment in Universal’s own “superhero” franchise, Furious 7, is doing likewise. Marketing for the seventh Fast and the Furious movie has been firing on all cylinders for the past few weeks, building on the momentum the film gained from its Super Bowl XLIX trailer: a preview that includes cars flying in more ways than one.

The “vehicle hopping” Furious 7 clip embedded above – featuring Brian O’Connor (Paul Walker) defying gravity yet again – is part of a much-longer action sequence; one that begins with Brian, Dom (Vin Diesel), and the rest of their crew going sky-diving… in their cars (watch: the featurette on how that scene was filmed). You need not worry too much about ...
